Copper & Congress photo

Hailing from Tucson, AZ, Copper & Congress is a dynamic three-piece ensemble bridging gaps between the genres of folk, jazz, blues, rock, and lounge. Their 2012 debut album The Leap Year features the talented vocalist/guitarist Corey Cottrell, drummer Kai Lindstedt, Joey Burns & Jacob Valenzuela from Calexico, and renowned producer Craig Schumacher. C&C unifies three musicians from widely disparate backgrounds to create passionate, beautiful, honest music. The band is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Feist, Portishead, Beck and Zero

Sweet Ghosts photo

Tucson, AZ based Sweet Ghosts is the new project of Katherine Byrnes and Ryan Alfred. Started as an outlet for their original music on breaks from their day jobs (Katherine sings background vocals with Amos Lee and Ryan plays bass in Calexico's touring band), Sweet Ghosts is now an awesome 6 piece live band. The music they make is not a hundred miles away from the bands they tour with; colorful, moody Americana played on a blend of acoustic and electric instruments, story songs with reverberating swirls and evocative strings, all anchored by the duo's strong harmony vocals.

Sailing Musicians upon a yacht, upon the seas we sailed. When one day sailing on board our ship, through a storm we had to prevail. The storm took us and threw us, and tossed us around. It bumped us and blew us. It soaked us and shook us. It grabbed us until… The storm threw us into a dried river made of salt, And there we remain still. "Dry River Yacht Club has made a name for themselves as a bold, unconventional band... instrumentation, which includes French horn, bassoon, and accordion... They are, in fact, somewhat chameleon-like. They walk the line between old-fashioned and modern. Their acoustic sound is sharpened and accentuated with unmistakable vocals, a distinguishing feature for them. Garnet's round, clear vibrato is intriguing and gives the music depth and rich, dark overtones. The overall product is both sweet and eerie." Grade A- - Phoenix New Times

"Imagine you're sitting around a desert campfire late at night listening to someone tell a Western-tinged story involving themes such as courage-manifesting, truth-seeking and hope. The narration is pleasantly raspy, grounded and inspiring. As the plot thickens, the voice builds and the arc at the final revelation carries you somewhere far beyond your cozy spot near the crackling embers. You feel lighter. You've transcended cynicism. You are enamored with what is now the fresh, new soundtrack to your positively reinforced subconscious. Don't be surprised if the debut EP by Carlos Arzate and the Kind Souls has this effect on you. Arzate is one hell of a songwriter. His vocal chops and catchy melodies are obvious strong suits on this release. "Fly Away" is a much-needed positive anthem in these media-induced derisive times. The soaring vocals capture Arzate's full power and range, with Katherine Byrnes adding stellar harmonies. "Love Letter Missile" has a sense of urgency enhanced by gripping piano and slide guitar, as well as a standout and all-too-brief guitar solo. "On the Fence" is a true desert hymn with howling and horns. I encourage diving right into this musical reservoir of anti-cynicism. It's the perfect balm to soothe Tucson's growing pains." - Mel Mason of The Tucson Weekly.

The Cabin Project photo

The Cabin Project is an orchestral indie pop band from the Portland whose sound stems from anthemic choruses, three-part harmonies, loop pedals, and string sections. The songs are musically expansive, yet retain an intimacy similar to that of The National, Bon Iver, Feist, and Mates of State. Born in an attic studio lined with Douglas Fir, the band started as a project of Katie Sawicki, a former-folksinger from Brooklyn who became inspired by electric guitars, keys, synthesizers, and balancing all three onstage. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2008, Sawicki sought out musicians to collaborate with, leading her to music partner Zanny Geffel, an orchestral drummer, rooted in jazz and percussion, with a preponderance for poetry and onstage mayhem. The band’s newest member is Rebekah Hanson, a PhD in viola recently turned onto delay and effects pedals, creating the band’s strings and bass section. The Cabin Project recently released their second album, Heliotrope, this last October. The album came together after passing demos back and forth between coasts and collaborating with a variety of talented musicians from all over the country. The Cabin Project has worked hard to build the community of influences and collaborations that surround Heliotrope, and what results is a culminated sound that chimes earnest, reverent, and full of warmth.

Vannessa Lundon has a NYC roots influence over her pop-folk girl rock. Simple guitar and piano stylings paired with gutsy lyrics. Nice.

Some Of Them Are Old photo

Some Of Them Are Old is a project based on experimental sound. Ideas evolve from drony delayed chords, slashing flashes of fuzz, and ambiguous vocal melodies - all mixed up in an attempt to create catchy creations of white noise.
